The Practice opened in 1988 in Brussels at Avenue Van Overbeke 166 (see map) and is equipped with state of the art technology and medical equipment continuously upgraded to offer the best quality patient care.
It is called now: “Brussels Vision Clinic” or “B V C “.

We are specialized in the medical and surgical treatment of eye diseases.

Four doctors are working : Dr. Bernard Mathys, senior surgeon and specialist in cataract and refractive surgery, Dr. Annick Michielsens, specialized in medical retinal diseases, Dr. Pascale Evens, specialized in strabismus and children’s examinations, and Dr. Bart Pion, specializing in surgical retinal disesases. Dr. Michielsens also takes care of CL( Contact lenses) problems.

Dr. Mathys is currently the General Secretary of the BSCRS ( Belgian Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery ) and has a keen interest in surgery since 1984. He has given numerous lectures all over the world about refractive surgery, has organized several meetings on refractive topics, has been invited many times for Live Surgery Sessions and to teach colleagues ophthalmologists. He is a member of the main Ophthalmological Societies in the world and an   active member of the ASCRS (American Society of Refractive Surgery) and the ESCRS (European Society of Refractive Surgery). He has published several main articles in Ophthalmic Journals and has contributed to a textbook on Refractive Surgery, published in the USA.

Mrs. Ana Silva and Mrs. Helga Asselberghs are in charge of the secretary of the Practice and take care of all your requirements, check up and follow up appointments. They both speak fluently French, Dutch and English. Moreover, Mrs. Silva speaks Spanish, and Mrs. Asselberghs German. Mrs. Françoise Deman is in charge of the organization of the Practice.
